Job Summary
The CDL Bus Driver operates a passenger bus to transport passengers along assigned routes or for scheduled trips. The driver ensures passenger safety, adheres to traffic laws, and provides a positive rider experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a passenger bus in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues
- Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations on schedule
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting when necessary
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior
- Follow assigned routes or adjust routes as directed
- Handle unexpected situations such as traffic delays or passenger concerns professionally
- Maintain accurate logs and required documentation
- Flexible schedule is required over and above fix morning and evening routines, for example a scheduled trip to a market or grocery store
- The shift schedule is 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening. The bus runs 7 days per week rotating drivers as need be
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience driving a passenger bus or similar vehicle
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Flexible availability, including evenings or weekends
Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting and driving
- Exposure to varying weather and traffic conditions
- Interaction with passengers of diverse backgrounds
