About us

Our Japanese team consists of 8 people, and it is expanding to tackle new opportunities in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

In this role, you will report daily to the Country Manager in Japan.

Additionally, you will maintain frequent communication with the production team, ensuring cohesive collaboration and successful project outcomes.

 

About the Role

As a Civil Site Engineer, you will be primarily based on construction sites across Japan and will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the civil engineering aspects of our EPC renewable energy  and BESS projects.

You will oversee all non-electrical construction works, including earthworks, cut and fill operations, drainage systems, access roads, concrete foundations, trenches, retaining structures, and other balance-of-plant civil infrastructure. Acting as a key member of the site team, you will ensure that works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications, quality standards, contractual requirements, and local regulations.

Working closely with project managers, subcontractors, designers, and other stakeholders, you will monitor construction progress, resolve technical issues, manage site risks, and ensure the successful delivery of projects from mobilization through to completion and handover.

Your expertise and site presence will be essential in maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and construction performance while supporting the successful execution of our projects throughout Japan.

 

Tasks

• Act as the company's 専任技術者 and support the maintenance of the company's construction license.
• Supervise and coordinate daily civil construction activities on site.
• Ensure all civil works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Monitor contractors' performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Conduct site inspections and quality control checks throughout project execution.
• Identify and resolve technical issues arising during construction.
• Support the commercial team during tender and proposal phases by reviewing civil works scopes and obtaining quotations from subcontractors.
• Perform project risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
• Monitor project schedules, construction progress, and costs, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensure project teams understand and comply with all technical, contractual, regulatory, and administrative requirements.
• Prepare site reports, progress updates, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate commissioning support and project handover activities.

 

What do we expect

• Mandatory: Holder of a valid 1級土木施工管理技士 (First-Class Civil Engineering Construction Management Engineer).
• Qualification eligible to act as 専任技術者 (Sen'nin Gijutsusha) under the company's construction license.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (土木工学) or a related discipline.
• Additional qualifications considered highly desirable:
• 技術士（建設部門） - Professional Engineer (Construction)
• 監理技術者資格者証 - Supervising Engineer Certificate
• 測量士 or 測量士補 - Surveyor / Assistant Surveyor
• 車両系建設機械運転技能講習 (Construction Machinery Operation Certificate)

Minimum 5 years' experience in civil engineering, construction supervision, or EPC project delivery.

Proven experience supervising civil works on construction sites in Japan.
