Responsibilities
- Responsible for implementation of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airworthiness Directives concerning powerplants and powerplant systems
- Works with engine and component manufacturers and repair agencies. Utilizing trend performance data and known/potential failure causes, the Engineer implements corrective actions to minimize pre-mature engine removals and reduce engine operating costs
- Determines embodiment of, and manages, product improvement initiatives applicable to aircraft powerplants and systems including auxiliary power units
- Develops engineering documents such as Engineering Orders (EO), Engineering Technical Notice (ETN) and Fleet Campaign Directive (FCD) in support of urgent action requirements to return/keep engines in operation as well as those required for implementation of manufacturer’s service bulletins and technical variances
- Must be able to work in a team environment and the ability to prioritize work and projects in order to meet competing deadlines from members of the team
- Ability to show initiative and critical thinking skills are necessary
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, report to work regularly and on-time, and be self-motivated

Requirements
- Minimum age of 18
- Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited college/university ; three years aircraft maintenance experience with a valid Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license may be substituted for the degree
- Possess the legal right to work in the United States
- Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
- Must have the knowledge and skills to be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Access, Powerpoint
- Understand letters and numbers to prepare studies and perform complex mathematical calculations
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making recommendations on information gathered/reviewed
- Previous experience as an aeronautical engineer with a powerplant career track preferred
- Advanced aeronautical degree, preferred
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects concurrently, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to develop well organized audio/visual presentations and the communication skills to effectively deliver those presentations, preferred
- Proven ability to work well under extreme deadlines, preferred
