Senior Software Engineer - Customer Experience

Berlin · On-site

About this role

Your Role

You'll join our EXP (Experience) squad, building the customer-facing APIs and backend systems that power how enterprise customers manage and automate their IoT connectivity: the customer portal, the partner/operator portal, and the "APIs for everything" layer behind them. These are production systems that directly impact adoption, scalability, and reliability, and increasingly ship AI-powered capabilities alongside the core platform.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you operate at the intersection of product thinking and technical excellence. You won't just implement tickets, but own features end to end, from early discovery and architectural design through rollout, operation, and iteration, shaping systems that are scalable, secure, and extensible.

Our core stack is TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS, running on AWS with Infrastructure as Code.

Your Impact

  • Design and deliver scalable, customer-facing backend capabilities from architecture to production.
  • Drive API and system design decisions (REST and GraphQL) with long-term scalability, security, and maintainability in mind.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to translate complex requirements into clean technical solutions.
  • Improve reliability, observability, and testing practices, and raise architectural standards within your domain.
  • Run what you build: take part in on-call, incident resolution, and post-mortems, and keep an eye on the cost and SLAs of your services.
  • Contribute to mentoring, hiring, and raising the engineering bar within the team.

What We Expect

  • Strong experience building scalable backend systems with TypeScript and Node.js, ideally using NestJS.
  • Proven track record designing and evolving REST APIs (GraphQL a plus) in production environments.
  • Solid experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience with data modeling and performance optimization in SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to own features end to end and make sound architectural trade-offs.
  • Comfort running production systems: testing, observability, and on-call as part of ownership.
  • AI-assisted development is part of your everyday workflow. Active usage of modern AI coding tools and holding AI-generated code to the same quality and security bar as anything written by hand.
