About this role

Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and dependable Punch Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate heavy-duty mechanical and hydraulic power presses to produce high-quality, precision metal stampings and components.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Position Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate mechanical and hydraulic punch presses.
  • Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production specifications.
  • Perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct defects or production deviations.
  • Maintain accurate production records and required documentation.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or mechanical concerns to Maintenance.
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and established production practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous punch press or metal stamping experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Previous forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical manufacturing tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.

Schedule

Regular Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Summer Hours: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM

Compensation

$17.00–$20.00 per hour

Starting wage will be based on the selected candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
