The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electromagnetic design, thermal design, mechanical integration, prototyping, and validation of motors, with a focus on efficiency, cost, noise/vibration, reliability, and manufacturability. The position plays a critical role in advancing electromechanical capabilities, driving integration with electronics and software, and enabling differentiated product performance across global markets. The Motor Technology Specialist will be part of the Global Technology team, contributing to the definition and deployment of core motor technologies across the organization and supporting multiple product lines at a global level.
Motor Design
- Support the development of electric motors solutions for professional products applications (e.g., BLDC, PMSM, induction motors, universal motors depending on product line).
- Perform motor sizing and selection based on performance requirements (torque, speed, power, efficiency, duty cycle).
- Analyze detailed motor designs including stator, rotor, winding, lamination, magnets, insulation, and housing.
Analysis
- Perform thermal analysis and cooling design to ensure motor performance under real operating conditions.
- Support NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) improvements through design optimization.
Mechanical & Manufacturing Integration
- Ensure motor designs meet mechanical constraints for appliance integration (space, mounting, sealing, vibration isolation).
- Work closely with R&D and manufacturing teams to ensure DFM/DFA, cost targets, and production feasibility.
Prototype & Testing
- Build and support appliances prototypes and support motor assembly and process development.
- Define and execute validation plans including:
- Efficiency mapping
- Thermal rise tests
- Durability and life testing
- Vibration and acoustic testing
- Environmental and reliability tests
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with electronics and control teams to ensure motor compatibility with inverter/drive and control algorithms.

- Support quality teams in root cause analysis and corrective actions for field issues.
Cost, Quality & Performance Optimization
- Ensure motor solutions meet cost targets without compromising performance or quality
- Lead value engineering and cost optimization initiatives
- Establish global standards for quality, reliability, and compliance (e.g., IEC, UL, energy regulations
Documentation & Compliance
- Support of engineering documentation: drawings, specifications, BOMs, test reports, and design reviews.
- Ensure designs meet relevant safety and compliance requirements (e.g., IEC, UL, appliance standards).
WHAT’S NEEDED FOR YOU TO THRIVE
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electric motor design (high-volume products preferred).
- Strong understanding of:
- Motor electromagnetic principles
- Winding design and insulation systems
- Thermal management
- Mechanical design considerations (bearings, tolerances, vibration)
- Experience with motor simulation tools (Maxwell, JMAG, Motor-CAD, etc.).
- Familiarity with lab testing and validation of motors.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes for motors (stamping, winding, impregnation, balancing, assembly).
