Host Family Coordinator
About this role
Host Family Coordinator
At EF Language Abroad, we believe the world becomes a better place when people truly connect with one another.
Since 1965, we've helped millions of students explore new countries, embrace new cultures, and see the world through a different lens — through immersive language experiences in the places where those languages come alive. Now, we're looking for someone special to help us continue that mission, right here in Malta.
Are you a people-person with a passion for bringing communities together?
As our Host Family Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of what makes our Malta Summer School Program so memorable for students from around the world. You'll cultivate a thriving community of host families — people who open their homes and their lives to young international learners — and ensure every student feels safe, welcomed, and truly at home from the moment they arrive.
Working together with our Homestay Manager and Global Operations Team, you'll be the trusted bridge between EF Language Abroad and our host family community. This is a permanent, year-round role, ideally suited to an early-career professional who's excited to grow within a dynamic, international organization.
What you'll be doing:
- Growing our host family community – Proactively recruit and onboard new host families across Malta, ensuring they meet EF's standards for safety, comfort, and warmth.
- Maintaining quality – Carry out regular home visits and inspections to make sure every homestay is a place students can truly feel at home.
- Placing students thoughtfully – Coordinate student-family placements with genuine care, taking each student's needs, preferences, and wellbeing into account.
- Being a trusted point of contact – Step in swiftly and professionally whenever students or host families need support, guidance, or a listening ear.
- Keeping things running smoothly – Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of host profiles, placements, inspections, and communications in our internal systems.
- Building community – Plan and host orientation sessions, appreciation events, and engagement activities that keep our host families motivated, valued, and connected.
What we're looking for:
- Full fluency in Maltese and English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Full working rights in Malta
- 1–2+ years' experience in customer service, coordination, or a similar field is a plus
- A background in education, hospitality, or a related area is a strong advantage
- Strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail
- A warm, empathetic, and solution-focused approach to people
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Experience living, working, or studying abroad is a bonus — you'll understand exactly what our students are going through!
- Additional languages are always welcome
What EF Malta offers you:
- Discounts on EF programmes for you and your family — across all EF offerings worldwide
- Free access to EF Hello, our premium language learning app
- Tuition reimbursement to support your continued education
- Discounts with our global hotel and travel partners
- A referral bonus for every successful staff hire you refer
- And plenty more to discover once you're part of the team

Company at a glance
Founded in 1965 in Sweden, EF (Education First) is a global association of education companies that share a common mission of opening the world through education.
Some companies are in the business of banking. Others are in the business of shoes. Or sports. Or soft drinks. At EF, we're in a different kind of business. One that's a little less tangible, and a lot more important. Because our business, what we make, makes everything else possible. We're in the business of understanding. Between people. Between cultures.
For over half a century we’ve been the leader in international educational programs and experiences designed to foster such understanding. Through language, cultural exchange, academic studies, and educational travel, we create the kinds of immersive experiences that challenge biases, open minds, and pave the way for a more understanding world.
You’ll find our offices and schools located in some of the world’s greatest cities, and filled with smart, driven people (over 50,000 of us) who push each other to be better every day. But it’s what we do together - building greater understanding, breaking down barriers, and creating a better world - that makes all the difference.
