HVAC Construction Technician

About this role
Duties/Responsibilities
• Install commercial HVAC equipment including rooftop units (RTUs), split systems,
air handlers, condensing units, exhaust fans, make-up air units, VAV boxes, and
related mechanical equipment.
• Install and modify ductwork, piping, equipment supports, curbs, and accessories as
required.
• Perform equipment replacements and retrofit installations on commercial projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics,
specifications, and installation manuals.
Equipment startup, testing, and commissioning to verify proper system operation.
• Coordinate work with project managers, foremen, subcontractors, and other trades
to maintain project schedules.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications,
manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
• Identify installation issues and communicate solutions to supervisors and project
teams.
• Maintain accurate job documentation, including daily reports, material usage, and
completed work.

• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety
requirements.

• Participate in ongoing technical and safety training.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC installation practices and mechanical
systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics
and project specifications.
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and HVAC installation equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a construction team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of commercial HVAC installation experience preferred.
• Experience with new construction and retrofit commercial projects preferred.
• EPA Certification required.
