Construction HVAC Sheet Metal Apprentice

Duties/Responsibilities
• Assist with the fabrication and installation of commercial HVAC ductwork, fittings,
equipment supports, and related sheet metal components.
• Install hangers, supports, dampers, and other HVAC system accessories according
to project specifications.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install sheet metal components using hand tools,
power tools, and fabrication equipment.
Follow the instructions of your Journeymen.
• Assist with equipment setting, duct connections
Maintain company tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and organized
conditions.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety
requirements.
• Identify and report job site hazards and assist in maintaining a safe work
environment.
• Participate in apprenticeship training, technical education, and ongoing
professional development to build sheet metal fabrication and installation skills.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Basic mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in pursuing a career in commercial
HVAC and sheet metal construction.
• Ability to read or learn to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and shop drawings.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and basic sheet metal fabrication
equipment.
• Basic understanding of measuring, layout, and fabrication techniques or a
willingness to learn.
• Strong work ethics, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to producing quality work and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrollment in or completion of sheet metal, HVAC, or skilled trades apprenticeship
or trade school program preferred.
• Previous construction, mechanical, fabrication, or HVAC experience is a plus but
not required.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and overhead work.
• Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
• Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
