Job Summary:
The Finance Manager is responsible for financial management of clients including oversight of revenue recognition, financial reporting, forecasting, and process compliance. The Finance Manager may supervise one or more Financial Analysts or Interns. The Finance Manager will function as the Business Manager on larger or more complex projects or clients including contract and pricing negotiations (with oversight).

Basic Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of five years of Finance or Accounting experience.

  • In lieu of a degree, six years of Financial or Accounting experience.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, be client service oriented and foster positive working relationships.

  • Is well organized with strong time management skills and attention to detail, follows through on multiple projects and juggle conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • The candidate will also possess strong financial analysis and management skills, good business acumen, ability to articulate financial concerns in layman’s terms, and be a self-starter and initiative taker.

  • Advanced knowledge of financial systems.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will carry out the below responsibilities:

Client Servicing

  • Coordinate data collection for client audits

  • Communicate with clients regarding budgets, billing, and accounts receivable issues

  • Maintain catalog of required client reporting and ensure timely completion

Financial Management and Planning

  • Support account teams in pricing client proposals, responding to RFP/RFI’s and developing budgets (with oversight)

  • Support negotiation of client and vendor contracts between clients/vendors, account staff/senior management and legal department, including full review of all business terms (with oversight)

  • Ensure that projects are managed in accordance with contracts; create summary sheets for account teams

  • Ensure written client agreements are obtained (via contract, letter of agreement, signed SOW, etc.) for all work and are appropriately archived and classified. Liaise with Contract Specialist and Contract office.

  • Assist account teams with monthly project budget to actual tracking and other required client reporting

  • Review and approve scopes and staffing plans; escalate issues to client finance lead as appropriate. Prepares staff plans if no PM

  • Review monthly fee and expense detail. Analyze accuracy and explain significant variances to budget or forecast

  • Prepare management reports and identify and communicate areas of concern and suggested improvements to account staff and management (e.g., client profitability, utilization, over/under service, missing time, revenue risk and staffing plans)

  • Review monthly fees for accuracy and compliance with Edelman Revenue Recognition policy

  • Facilitate monthly billing liaison between account staff and billing department and review billing reports

  • Review time and expense write-offs and unbilled WIP

  • Ensure processing of service orders timely

  • Work with client leadership to minimize risk exposure surrounding accounts receivables and credit requirements of clients

  • Accountable for timely and valuable AR collection status commentary and liaison with Accounts Receivable

  • Supervise project set up process for department and perform Business Manager role for larger or more complex projects.

  • Drive profitability by working with account teams, resource, and project management

  • Review staffing utilization, realization, and capacity and proactively communicate meaningful observations Portfolio finance leaders

  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies (e.g., revenue recognition, job requisitions, time entry, travel and expense, credit, billing, accounts payable, new business)

  • Ad hoc requests and projects

People Management

  • Contribute to performance appraisal process for peers and managers

  • Provide ongoing constructive feedback and consistently hold staff accountable for performance, compliance, and ethical business conduct

  • Supervise and train Finance personnel and be accountable for their work

An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
