Responsibilities
ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Specialty Technician I to join our Houston team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Specialty Technician I performs field-based destructive and non-destructive testing, inspection, and observation activities in support of specialty construction materials testing projects. This role focuses on specialized testing disciplines such as structural steel inspections, welding observations, and/or non-destructive evaluation (NDE) while working under the direction of more experienced staff. The Specialty Technician I develops technical competency in specialty testing methods and inspection practices while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.
Responsibilities
- Performs destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materials
- Conducts inspections of structural steel, reinforcing steel, and connections (welded and bolted)
- Performs field observations and inspections and collects samples for testing
- Documents findings in accordance with engineering and inspection standards
- Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
- Reports changes in site conditions and additional testing needs
- Performs inspections in fabrication facilities when required
- Prepares and submits daily field reports and documentation
- Performs basic calculations and data reduction tasks
- Maintains and organizes field testing equipment
- Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
- Attends project meetings as requested
- Performs other specialty testing and inspection duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of related experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Obtain two specialty certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
- General industry OSHA 10 may be required
- If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
- Limited knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing methods
- Good understanding of construction practices and jobsite operations
- Ability to work independently under direction and as part of a team
- Proficiency with electronic devices and field reporting systems
- Basic math and data documentation skills
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and instructions
- Ability to calibrate NDT equipment (where applicable)
- Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies
