About the RoleWe are a fast-growing consumer electronics company selling across Europe through marketplaces, our own webshop, distributors, and major retail partners. To support our continued expansion and ensure full regulatory compliance, we are looking for an experienced EPR Compliance Specialist to take the lead of all Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations across the EU.
This role is responsible for managing WEEE, Batteries, Packaging, and other EPR streams, as well as leading our readiness and implementation of the upcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
Key Responsibilities
EPR Compliance Management
- Own and manage all EPR obligations across Europe, including:
- WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
- Batteries
- Packaging
- Other applicable waste streams (e.g., textiles where relevant)
- Ensure timely and accurate registrations, renewals, and deregistrations in all EU countries
- Oversee data collection, validation, and submission for regulatory reporting
- Monitor and interpret evolving EU and national EPR regulations with our external partner
- Lead internal implementation of new requirements, especially PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation)
- Act as subject matter expert for compliance risks and regulatory changes
- Manage relationships with Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs), compliance schemes, and external service providers
- Coordinate take-back systems, recycling obligations, and waste flows
- Collaborate with internal teams (Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, Product, Sustainability)
- Maintain robust compliance documentation and audit trails
- Prepare for and support regulatory audits and inspections
- Ensure data integrity and traceability across all reporting systems
- Optimize EPR processes, tools, and workflows
- Support digitalization and automation of compliance reporting
- Contribute to sustainability strategy and circular economy initiatives
Your profile
Experience- 4+ years of experience in EPR compliance, environmental compliance, or regulatory affairs
- Strong hands-on experience with WEEE, Batteries, and Packaging regulations in Europe
- Experience working with or within compliance organizations (e.g. consulting firms, or service providers)
- Background in companies such as compliance scheme providers, recycling organizations, or electronics manufacturers is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of EU regulatory landscape and national implementations
- Familiarity with PPWR and upcoming EU sustainability regulations is a strong plus
- Experience managing multi-country registrations and reporting
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in regulatory data
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders across countries
- Experience with compliance/reporting tools and ERP systems
- Advanced Excel or data handling skills
- Fluent in English and German; additional European languages are a plus
