Job summary

The Senior Industrialization Engineer will lead manufacturing and industrialization activities for new product introductions (NPI) from development through production release. The role will develop and implement manufacturing processes, production test strategies, and supporting documentation to ensure successful product launches.

This position will support the Drives, Contactors, and Sensors product lines, driving manufacturing strategy, capacity planning, process optimization, and operational readiness. The role will also provide Product Line Support and lead Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, cost reduction, and business growth.

Additionally, the engineer will define production test requirements, collaborate with plants and suppliers to deploy manufacturing solutions, support sustaining engineering activities, and work cross-functionally to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.


Job responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the development and procurement of prototype and production tooling, fixtures, & equipment.

  2. Provide technical inputs of design decisions and products changes to facilitate manufacturing, reduce cost, substitute material, improve quality and accommodate special customer needs.

  3. Collaborate with the implementation of Industry 4.0 for NPI projects.

  4. Collaborate with the design team to ensure Design for Manufacturability.

  5. Lead prototype builds through developing pilot production lines and associated processes.

  6. Create and implement process controls, work instructions, and standard work, and provide relevant training to plant personnel.

  7. Drive production readiness at the plant across all functions, including production validation and issue resolution.

  8. Collect and analyze early product and process performance data, using applicable Design for Six Sigma, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing approaches.

  9. Manage product cost and capital expense forecasts for NPI projects.

  10. Support cost reduction initiatives and Continuous Improvement programs.

  11. Create and maintain test specifications, test plans, and acceptance criteria to support product validation and production readiness activities.

  12. Collaborate with plant test engineers and tester suppliers to develop, procure, validate, and deploy production test systems, ensuring capability, reliability, and compliance with manufacturing requirements for NPI.

Qualifications:

Education level required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.


Years and area of experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or plant operations environment.
  • Working knowledge of production tooling and assembly fixtures.
  • Technical knowledge of electro-mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of part/assembly drawings and bills of materials.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in new product development and industrialization.
  • Experience with production tooling and assembly/test fixture development.
  • Working knowledge of basic quality tools, such as, capability studies and gage R&Rs.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, VA/VE, and LEAN manufacturing tools.
  • Experience with shop floor control processes and technology (barcoding, product/process traceability).
  • Working knowledge of core feeder processes (molding, stamping, turning, machining, brazing/welding).
  • Experience working with Industry 4.0 technologies.
