About the Role

The Deputyship Service is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputyship Officer to manage a caseload of both DWP Appointeeship and Court of Protection Deputyship cases.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults who are unable to manage their own financial affairs due to mental incapacity. As a Deputyship Officer, you will play a vital role in safeguarding people's finances, promoting their independence, and ensuring their best interests are always at the heart of decision-making.

Managing a diverse caseload of approximately 50 individuals, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial affairs, ensuring clients receive the correct welfare benefits and entitlements, manage savings and assets, and authorising expenditure that supports their wellbeing and quality of life. You will need to balance competing demands while maintaining a highly organised and person-centred approach.

Working closely with clients, families, care providers, and colleagues across Adult Social Care, you will help develop sustainable spending plans that support independence while ensuring finances are managed responsibly. Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and excellent attention to detail are essential, as the people you support depend on you to manage their affairs accurately and effectively.

You will join an established, supportive, and skilled team, working collaboratively with colleagues across Adult Social Care and Nottingham Care and Support Providers to deliver an invaluable service to some of the city's most vulnerable residents.

If you are looking for a meaningful career where you can combine financial administration, legal and technical knowledge, problem-solving, advocacy, and relationship-building to improve people's lives, we would love to hear from you.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high level of numeracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage a varied caseload relating to citizens' financial affairs, making informed decisions, solving problems, and using initiative to work independently.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults, with the ability to advocate effectively and ensure decisions are made in their best interests.
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, with the willingness and capability to develop this into specialist-level expertise.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build positive, productive relationships with colleagues, professionals, and partner organisations across different sectors

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
