About this role

About Us

At Dyson, we are encouraged to think differently, challenge convention and be unafraid to make mistakes. We are creative, collaborative, practical and enthusiastic, but most of all, we’re hugely passionate about what we do. We are looking for individuals who wish to invent, design, and develop leading products for the global market. By working in our world class Research Design and Development department, these individuals could work alongside other leading technical specialists and highly motivated creative people to develop products which fulfil our ambition of being truly different and better than our competitors.

About the Role

The System solution test team tests the integrated electronics and software of the products. The degree of sophistication and complexity varies from product to product, with different technologies and features. This variety of test needs requires creative verification solutions with automation applied where possible.

The verification team is based across sites in Southeast Asia; the team works collaboratively to test Dyson product range through the different product development stages; this can include early technology investigations through to production and postproduction support.

We are looking to expand the group to support the growing number of products and new technologies.

Skills and experience desired:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software/system verification, test automation, and test system development for complex electronic, embedded, or electromechanical products.
  • Proven experience developing automated test frameworks and infrastructure for functional, robustness, reliability, endurance, fault-injection, recovery, and regression testing.
  • Strong experience defining verification strategies, test methodologies, and validation plans from system and product requirements.
  • Experience working with Joint Design Manufacturers (JDMs) or external engineering partners to align verification activities, review test deliverables, and drive issue resolution.
  • Hands-on experience developing measurement, control, and automation solutions using NI DAQ, LabVIEW, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in test automation tools and programming languages such as LabVIEW, Python, TestStand, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Experience specifying, developing, and executing system verification and validation tests using automated instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in system-level debugging, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision making.
  • Solid understanding of electronics, system integration, sensors, actuators, embedded systems, and the ability to interpret schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills, with experience influencing cross-functional teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced Agile development environment.
  • Understanding of the concept of SLAM, localization, navigation, and path-planning.
  • Experience with wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread, or Matter.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and log investigation tools.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition and execution of software system verification strategies, translating product and system requirements into robust validation plans, test methodologies, and automation solutions.
  • Own the architecture, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of automated test frameworks, verification infrastructure, and system test capabilities to deliver scalable, efficient, and repeatable testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Joint Development Manufacturers (JDMs) to align verification approaches, test automation strategies, quality expectations, and delivery commitments throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Specify, design, and develop test fixtures, instrumentation, measurement systems, data acquisition hardware, and automation tools to support system-level verification activities.
  • Lead the development and execution of manual and automated system tests, ensuring comprehensive coverage of functional, robustness, reliability, and performance requirements.
  • Analyse test results, identify trends and risks, provide actionable feedback to engineering teams, and drive data-driven product quality improvements.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for product and test failures, improving product reliability and verification effectiveness.
  • Drive the adoption of test automation, verification best practices, engineering standards, and governance processes to improve test efficiency, coverage, and quality.
  • Present verification results, quality assessments, and technical risks to project teams, stakeholders, and senior management to support informed decision-making.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to verification and test automation engineers, fostering engineering excellence and continuous improvement across the team.

Company at a glance

Dyson solves real-world problems and creates better products through the application of engineering, science, design and creativity. It is a family-owned, global technology company, founded by Sir James Dyson who remains at the helm alongside his son Jake.

Since inventing the first cyclonic bagless vacuum cleaner, the DC01, Dyson has consistently invested in research and development to improve its products and technologies radically. Dyson offers products across a growing range of areas: floorcare, air purification, robotics, haircare including formulations, lighting, hand drying, and most recently audio. Dyson continues to expand into new areas.

Today, Dyson sells products in more than 80 markets, has 450 Dyson stores worldwide and is available in all major technology and beauty retailers. Dyson has global headquarters in Singapore and major technology campuses in Singapore, the UK, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Its global team of engineers, scientists and software developers are focused on developing technology-enabled products which work better and which people love to use. Key areas of focus have included high-speed electric digital motors, sensing and vision systems, robotics, machine learning and aerodynamics.

Beyond products, to encourage an inventive future, Dyson is also inspiring the next generation of engineers and inventors through the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, the James Dyson Foundation and the James Dyson Award.

The Dyson family applies its problem-solving approach in other fields, and established Dyson Farming in 2012. It is one of the largest farming businesses in the UK, extending to 36,000 acres across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. It is a family-owned enterprise unlike any other, focussed on long-term investment in British farming and the countryside to grow tasty and nutritious food.
