About the Role

As Head of Electronics, China, you will be an experienced engineering leader with strong electronics hardware depth, proven people leadership and the ability to operate across Dyson’s global engineering organisation and China’s supplier ecosystem. You will lead regional teams with autonomy, build trusted JDM and supplier relationships, and ensure delivery of robust electronics hardware solutions from concept and architecture definition through validation, manufacturing launch, sustaining and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for leading the China-based electronics hardware team across Shenzhen, Shanghai and selected JDM locations, ensuring the team is positioned close to key partners where day-to-day technical engagement, escalation and delivery support are required.
  • Responsible for delivering electronics hardware solutions across multiple product categories in close partnership with Dyson global engineering teams, China-based JDMs, ODMs, PCBA partners and strategic component suppliers.
  • Ensure electronics hardware deliverables from Dyson and external partners are technically mature, manufacturable, validated and released on time, on cost and to specification across NPD, sustaining and localisation activities.
  • Provide strong technical and organisational leadership to resolve complex electronics issues, including product safety, EMC, reliability, integration, supplier readiness, manufacturing maturity, quality concerns and cost-down opportunities.
  • Set the strategy, priorities, goals and KPIs for a high-performing China electronics team, with clear focus on cross-category delivery, JDM execution, supplier leverage, design capability, development efficiency, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Build capability and capacity across Shenzhen, Shanghai and JDM-embedded locations to support product delivery, supplier engagement, sustaining, local engineering support and long-term business needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with JDMs, ODMs, PCBA partners and strategic suppliers in China, ensuring Dyson has appropriate technical visibility, influence and escalation paths to protect delivery, quality and product integrity.
  • Operate effectively within the Chinese engineering and supplier environment, bringing strong cultural awareness, local relationship management, clear communication and the ability to influence partners while upholding Dyson standards.
  • Support the Head of Electronics – Product Platforms and HWPS leadership team in defining and executing the regional supplier strategy, including selection, capability assessment, governance, engagement model and long-term alignment with Dyson’s product and technology roadmap.
  • Lead regional partner governance by setting clear expectations on technical ownership, design transparency, maturity reviews, issue escalation, validation evidence and delivery accountability across Dyson and supplier teams.
  • Report and ensure clear communication of the design status, ensuring the relevant system electronics design risks are clearly communicated to your peers and upwards
  • Lead by example, setting high standard of work ethics.

About You

  • Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in electronics hardware engineering, preferably with strong knowledge across power electronics, motor drive, battery management, analogue and digital electronics, sensing technologies, PCBA development and product integration.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams across multiple China locations, ideally including Shenzhen, Shanghai and supplier-embedded teams working directly with JDM or manufacturing partners.
  • Strong experience working with JDM, ODM, PCBA and electronics module suppliers, including technical governance, design transparency, supplier capability development, issue escalation, quality resolution and delivery accountability.
  • Strong understanding of the Chinese business and supplier culture, with the judgement to balance relationship building, commercial awareness, technical challenge and clear accountability for Dyson standards.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with a focus on delivering innovative, practical solutions.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Beneficial to have a working knowledge of software and firmware development practices, enabling effective governance of JDM partners and stronger collaboration across hardware, software and systems engineering teams.
