Position Summary

The Occupational Therapy Department is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dependable student to serve as an Occupational Therapy Student Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with faculty and staff, support current and prospective students, assist with hands-on laboratory activities, and serve as an ambassador for the OT program.
As a Student Assistant, you will play an important role in representing the department at recruitment events, welcoming prospective students and families, supporting laboratory experiences, and helping create a positive and engaging environment within the program. This position is ideal for a student who enjoys connecting with others, is organized and detail-oriented, and takes pride in contributing to the success of the OT community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Serve as a positive representative for the Occupational Therapy program.
· Conduct tours for prospective students and their families.
· Assist with recruitment events, open houses, accepted student programs, and other departmental outreach initiatives.
· Share information about the OT student experience, curriculum, and program opportunities with prospective students.
· Assist faculty and staff with recruitment, engagement, and special projects.
· Prepare, organize, and distribute marketing, recruitment, and program materials.
· Assist faculty with copying, organizing, preparing, and distributing instructional and laboratory materials.
· Support the design and preparation of displays, promotional materials, and event resources.
· Prepare laboratory equipment, supplies, and materials for classroom and lab activities.
· Assist with the setup and breakdown of labs, events, and program activities.
· Help move and organize supplies, equipment, and materials as needed.
· Perform light cleaning and organization of OT laboratories, classrooms, storage areas, and common spaces.
· Monitor, organize, and replenish departmental supplies and materials.
· Participate in departmental events and assist with event planning and execution.
· Provide general administrative and departmental support.
· Complete other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

· Occupational Therapy major in the sophomore, junior, or senior year, or enrolled in the OTD program.
· Eligible for Federal Work-Study.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Comfortable interacting with prospective students, families, faculty, staff, and peers.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
· Dependable, professional, and service-oriented.
· Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
· Enthusiasm for promoting the Occupational Therapy profession and program.

Work Schedule

· Approximately 15 hours per week.
· Work hours will be scheduled around the student's academic schedule during departmental operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
· Occasional evening and weekend availability may be needed to support recruitment events, open houses, tours, and special departmental activities. These activities will be required for your role.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to bend, lift, carry, pull, and transport supplies, equipment, and materials.
· Ability to assist with setting up and breaking down laboratory equipment and event materials.
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during tours, recruitment events, and departmental activities.
· Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
