Key Responsibilities
- Monitor live drilling rig operations remotely via CCTV during 12-hour day or night shifts.
- Observe critical and high-risk activities, including casing runs, rig moves, lifting operations, well control, and maintenance work.
- Identify unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, procedural deviations, and equipment positioning issues in real time.
- Initiate immediate interventions and communicate safety concerns directly to rig leadership.
- Escalate unaddressed risks through established reporting channels.
- Identify, track, and report Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) potential events and near misses.
- Prepare CCTV observation reports with supporting photographic/video evidence.
- Maintain accurate monitoring logs and conduct detailed shift handovers.
- Analyze safety trends and provide recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support HSE Assurance teams through weekly reporting, trend analysis, and proactive risk management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Former Rig Manager, Night Rig Manager, or senior drilling operations leader.
- Minimum 5-8 years of land drilling industry experience.
- Strong track record in HSE leadership, incident prevention, and safety culture development.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling rig operations, equipment, and high-risk activities.
- Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), including:
- Permit to Work (PTW)
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessment
- LOTOTO / Isolation Procedures
- DROPS Prevention
- Work at Height
- Confined Space Entry
- Safe Lifting Operations
- Hazardous Area Controls
- PPE Requirements
- Ability to recognize line-of-fire, red-zone, lifting, pressure testing, and well control hazards.
- Experience monitoring critical operations such as tripping, casing running, cementing, rig-up/down, pressure testing, and heavy lifting.
- Proficient in CCTV monitoring systems, MS Office applications, and digital reporting tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, timely, and professional safety notifications.
