Role Summary/Purpose

The Shipping Manager is responsible for leading all shipping, warehouse, and outbound logistics activities to ensure products are shipped safely, accurately, on time, and at the lowest total cost. This position directs daily operations for shipping, finished goods storage, packaging, transportation, and logistics while supporting company objectives for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Working closely with Production, Planning, Customer Service, Quality, Materials, and Sales, the Shipping Manager ensures customer commitments are achieved while driving continuous improvement throughout the shipping process

Essential Responsibilities

  • Motivate team to achieve goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives
  • Learn and employ Lean Manufacturing concepts in area of responsibility
  • Partner with procurement, planning and sales to ensure accurate receipts, shipments, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible to effectively communicate and enforce company goals, policies, and procedures
  • Provides support & troubleshooting to shipping and receiving functions and coordinates planned shipments & receipts.
  • Drive and influence change to build a high performing and cohesive team
  • Ability to learn and master software tools
  • Administer and approve time and attendance for all employees in assigned work area
  • Effectively create and maintain relationships with facility supervisors across all shifts to create a continuous “pull-to-shipping” mentality and process.
  • Determine manpower requirements to meet Plant targets
  • Creating and implementing shipping policies and procedures
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist team members in resolving work problems
  • Read and understand customer specs and work instructions
  • Practice safe work habits to ensure an injury free environment
  • Train personnel in the proper methods and procedures
  • Ensure, identify, and sustain all training records accurately
  • Lead and instruct on best manufacturing practices

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in shipping and/or logistics planning
  • Minimum of 3 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • In depth knowledge of logistics and shipping documentation
  • Knowledge of shipping industry regulations
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, as required
