About this role

We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Handyman.  Join our Health and Education team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and play a key role in providing general handyman services to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Program Manager, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.

The role is Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm with generous overtime available and will require some afterhours work. 

 

What You’ll Do (key responsibilities)

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

  • Perform minor repairs to Hospital building and equipment.

  • Conduct scheduled inspections and servicing of hospital equipment, fittings, and infrastructure as required.

  • Ensure all work complies with hospital safety standards, infection control, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Respond promptly to urgent requests as required and directed.

  • Work closely with hospital staff, contractors, and the projects team to prioritize tasks.

  • Maintain logs of completed work, inspections, and materials used.

  • Safely operate tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment.

  • Assist with furniture assembly, relocation of equipment, and general upkeep of hospital facility. 

  • Assist the project team with painting services as required.

 

What You’ll Bring (experience required)

  • The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of general repairs / maintenance, tools, and materials

  • Certificate or trade qualification (preferred).

  • Previous experience in maintenance or handyman roles (hospital or healthcare setting preferred) 

  • Knowledge of OHS regulations and safe handling of hazardous materials.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
