Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility. This includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment, systems, and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, tests, and preventive maintenance on facility equipment, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, lighting, and machinery.
  • Identify potential issues before they escalate and schedule preventive maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the facility.
  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly to minimize downtime and ensure equipment operates efficiently.
  • Maintain the physical integrity of the building, including performing basic carpentry, painting, and general facility repairs.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment by keeping tools, materials, and work areas in order.
  • Maintain adequate levels of maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment.
  • Track inventory usage and coordinate with the purchasing department for restocking materials.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and provide timely solutions to ensure the safety of personnel and minimize production interruptions.
  • Diagnose and correct hazardous conditions and malfunctions promptly.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to support production needs and minimize downtime.
  • Provide support for facility upgrades, modifications, and new installations as required.
  • Document daily activities, work order resolution, equipment maintenance and repair activities
  • Other duties assigned by management. 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to use common precision measurement gauges, multimeters and basic machine shop equipment.
  • Basic understanding of building codes, safety standards, and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience working with boiler/chiller systems
  • Technical knowledge of industrial manufacturing building equipment and maintenance required.
  • Must be able to work from blueprints, manufacturer specifications and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with slitting and coating process preferable 
  • Must be capable of working flexible hours to accommodate 24/7 manufacturing operations, including weekends, and on-call requirements
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Reasoning ability – the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work independently and take appropriate corrective action when minor problems arise

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand/walk for a 12-hour shift.
  • Must be able to push/pull/life at least 45 lbs. individually and 50 lbs. with the help of a team member 
  • Must be able to use, handle, and manipulate items and materials, including hazardous materials with proper material handling equipment/tools.
  • Must complete 24/40-hour HazWoper Training and be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection

Safety Requirements

  • Physically able to pass spirometry exam for test fitting of respiratory equipment
  • Ability to wear required PPE (including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and ANSI-approved footwear.

The hiring range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00 per hour.  This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidates' experience, skills, and qualifications.
