Job Description

This role centers on a Population Genomics Research Platform operated in partnership with one of the world's foremost population health biobanks, providing researchers worldwide with access to genotypic and phenotypic data from hundreds of thousands of participants. The platform supports research into human disease and biology at a scale few datasets can match. As Senior Product Manager, you will own the product direction for this platform: determining what gets built, setting priorities, shaping the researcher experience from data access through analytical workflows, and scaling the global network of researchers leveraging the biobank. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Head of Product.

The role requires substantive knowledge of how genomics research is conducted, not merely familiarity with the market. The platform serves a global community of accomplished scientists with exacting standards, and the product must meet them. This PM will have meaningful influence over a platform with direct implications for the advancement of human health. That is both the opportunity and the responsibility that comes with it.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Set the roadmap. Work with biobank and institutional stakeholders alongside DNAnexus leadership to determine what gets built and when. Align partner priorities with the broader DNAnexus platform strategy, ensuring both advance together.
  • Talk to researchers. Conduct interviews, surveys, and usage analysis with scientists worldwide to understand what is working, what is not, and what to build next, and support the growth of the broader scientific community.
  • Ship features. Partner with your engineering team from requirements through release, owning delivery end to end.
  • Drive go-to-market. Define positioning, plan launches, and work with Sales and Marketing to expand the global researcher user base.
  • Own compliance and security requirements. The platform operates on highly sensitive population health data. It must meet GDPR, ISO 27001, and Trusted Research Environment standards. Work with security and legal to define product requirements that keep the platform compliant, and hold those standards through engineering delivery.
  • Manage the partner relationship and Account Management. Keep partner stakeholders informed, surface problems early, and maintain alignment on roadmap and program health.
  • Coordinate across time zones. This role is based in Central Europe and works closely with US and CZ based product managers and a biobank account manager. Effective async communication, clear written handoffs, and the ability to represent decisions across time zones are core to how this job gets done.

Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years in product management, with meaningful time spent on technical platform products.
  • End-to-end delivery. A track record of shipping products from discovery through requirements, development, and launch.
  • Product acumen. Adept at translating complex, technical user requirements into collaborative discussions with engineering regarding system architecture, data models, and API design, while keeping the end-user at the center.
  • Regulated product experience. Experience building in environments governed by GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, or equivalent frameworks. The expectation is that compliance requirements are understood, translated into product decisions, and upheld through engineering delivery.
  • Cross-functional influence. You drive alignment across engineering, security, domain experts, and commercial teams through clarity and credibility.
  • Business-fluent English: written and spoken is required.
  • Executive communication. You can turn ambiguous technical and commercial information into board-ready narratives and are comfortable presenting to executives and customer champions.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Scientific background. A degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a closely related discipline. Hands-on research experience is a strong advantage.
  • AI and LLM fluency. Working knowledge of current AI capabilities, both as features to build into the product and as tools to accelerate your own day-to-day product work.
  • Experience building or growing a research community, whether academic, open-science, or otherwise.
  • Familiarity with Trusted Research Environment frameworks or data safe haven design.
  • A technical background in Computer Science or Software Engineering alongside scientific training.
