Position Summary:
The Diet Tech is responsible for consulting with the Registered Dietitian to ensure implementation of the best standard of nutrition and dietary services. The Diet Tech is responsible for implementing the dietary component within the program. Responsibilities include dietary support, grocery budget allocation, patient menu planning, maintaining a clean and well stocked kitchen, cooking and baking as recommended, and appropriately discerning between appropriate and inappropriate patient eating behaviors
Essential Job Functions:
Remote Patient Monitoring & Vitals Coordination
- Oversee day-to-day implementation of established vitals and remote patient monitoring (RPM) protocols.
- Escalate abnormal results, concerning trends, or continued non-compliance to the appropriate RD and dietary leadership.
Nutrition Education & Group Facilitation
- Facilitate nutrition-focused psychoeducational groups
- Communicate relevant observations or patient concerns arising during groups to the appropriate treatment team members.
Meal & Snack Support
- Facilitate structured meal and snack support within the virtual treatment environment.
- Observe and communicate relevant meal behaviors, barriers, or concerns to the RD and interdisciplinary treatment team.
Food Access & Resource Support
- Identify and respond to barriers related to food insecurity or access to adequate nutrition.
- Assist patients and families with locating appropriate community resources, food assistance programs, and other available supports.
- Collaborate with the RD, case management, and clinical teams when food access concerns may interfere with the patient's ability to follow their nutrition recommendations.
Knowledge, Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Education or experience in dietary or nutrition sciences preferred
- Valid and unrestricted State Driver’s License
- Must obtain and maintain CPI certification within 90 days of hire, training provided
- Must obtain and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid, along with Food Handling/Safety certification within 30 days of hire, training provided
- Substance Use Division: Minimum 1 year sobriety if in recovery
- Eating Disorder Division: Minimum 1 year recovery from eating disorder if in recovery
Employment Status: Part-Time
Schedule: 1-6pm pst, but flexible
Work Location: Virtual - California
Compensation: Pay Range: $18 - $23 hourly
