About this role

Diraq’s Export Controls & Global Trade Compliance Manager owns export control compliance for Diraq and will run Diraq’s export control and global trade framework for its U.S. and Australian subsidiaries. This U.S.-based role reports to Diraq’s Head of Legal & Compliance and is focused on ensuring compliance with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Australian Defence Export Controls (DEC / DSGL) and encompasses obligations under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) where applicable, particularly in the context of dual-use and AUKUS export control environments. The role combines hands-on execution with ownership of the export control compliance program
  • Approximately 6–8 years of experience in global trade compliance and export controls within a business environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. export controls, including the ITAR and EAR, together with practical familiarity with OFAC, and Australian Defence Export Controls.
  • Experience implementing, operating, or improving trade compliance processes across multiple jurisdictions, preferably in a technology, semiconductor, research, defense-adjacent, or other highly regulated environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical, risk-based guidance to technical, program, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage documentation and process requirements with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proactive communicator who can build collaborative relationships and operate effectively in a dynamic environment supporting multiple programs and stakeholders.
  • Eligibility to be appointed as an Empowered Official.
  • Awareness of dual-use export control processes and the AUKUS export control environment, including technology-sharing and releasability considerations across allied jurisdictions.
  • Own day-to-day export control operations across Diraq, ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. and Australian requirements, including the EAR, ITAR, and Australian Defence Export Controls.
  • Manage Diraq’s export control and global trade compliance framework for its U.S. and Australian subsidiaries, including consistent policies, procedures, controls, and escalation pathways.
  • Manage compliance activities relating to exports, re-exports, technology transfers, deemed exports, foreign person access, and access to controlled technical information across Diraq’s operations in the U.S. and Australia.
  • Support export classification and trade data reviews, including ECCN assessments, and maintain documentation to support the compliant export and transfer of hardware, software, and technical information.
  • Prepare, submit, implement, and manage export authorizations, including licenses, Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing License Agreements, permits, exemptions, exceptions, and related recordkeeping requirements.
  • Perform Empowered Official responsibilities where appointed, including reviewing and approving license applications and providing regulatory interpretation.
  • Partner with program teams and cross-functional stakeholders to identify compliance risks early, develop export licensing strategies, and embed compliant processes into operational workflows.
  • Review and approve exports of hardware, software, technical data, and controlled technology, including dual-use items and transfers within the AUKUS export control framework.
  • Conduct trade compliance training for relevant personnel, including license scope, technology control, and handling of export-controlled information.
  • Maintain audit-ready compliance files, reconcile licenses, approve foreign visit requests, and support continuous improvement of trade compliance processes.
