About this role

Diraq is developing the world's most scalable quantum computing architecture by leveraging proven semiconductor manufacturing technologies. We are seeking a talented and motivated Device Modelling Engineer to support the simulation and modelling of next-generation semiconductor quantum devices and enabling technologies.

In this role, you will develop and execute advanced modelling workflows that inform device design, process development, and technology strategy. Working closely with materials scientists, process integration engineers, device engineers, and experimental researchers, you will transform complex engineering questions into simulation studies, generate actionable insights, and contribute directly to critical technology decisions.

This position is ideal for engineers and physicists who enjoy solving challenging multidisciplinary problems through computational modelling, numerical analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Foundational knowledge of semiconductor physics and devices, including:
    • Charge transport
    • Electrostatics
    • Semiconductor device operation
    • Semiconductor process technologies
  • Experience using at least one advanced simulation, modelling, or numerical computing environment such as:
    • TCAD
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools
    • Electromagnetic simulation tools
    • Python
    • MATLAB
    • Equivalent modelling platforms
  • Experience developing scripts, automating workflows, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Understanding of numerical methods, computational modelling techniques, and physical simulation principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated contribution to a significant modelling or simulation project in industry, academic research, or postgraduate studies.
  • Experience validating computational models against experimental measurements.
  • Exposure to semiconductor devices, microelectronics, nanotechnology, materials science, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary hardware development environments.
  • Experience working within R&D organizations focused on emerging technologies.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve simulation workflows for semiconductor devices and process technologies.
  • Perform electrostatic, transport, and physics-based modelling of nanoscale semiconductor devices.
  • Evaluate design trade-offs, variability mechanisms, and sensitivity to process changes.
  • Analyze simulation and experimental datasets to identify key performance drivers and engineering opportunities.
  • Validate simulation predictions against measured device performance and refine models accordingly.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support technology development, device optimization, and product roadmaps.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering and scientific stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of modelling methodologies, tools, and automation frameworks.
