About this role

Diraq is looking for a motivated Device Modelling Engineer to support simulation and modelling activities for next-generation semiconductor technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your analytical, physics and computational skills to challenging real-world engineering problems while working alongside multidisciplinary teams developing advanced devices and processes.

You will play a key role in developing and improving modelling workflows that help guide device, process and technology development. Working closely with materials, integration and experimental teams, you will translate engineering questions into simulation studies, analyse results, and provide recommendations that influence technology and design decisions.

Whether your background is in engineering, physics, microelectronics, materials science or a related discipline, we are interested in candidates with strong modelling capability, curiosity, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
  • Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Materials Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Foundational knowledge of semiconductor physics and device operation, including charge transport, electrostatics and semiconductor process technologies.
  • Experience with at least one advanced simulation or modelling environment such as TCAD, finite element modelling tools, electromagnetic simulation tools, Python, MATLAB or similar platforms.
  • Ability to develop scripts, automate workflows and analyse large datasets.
  • Understanding of numerical methods and physical modelling techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
Desirable Experience
  • Contribution to a significant modelling or simulation project through industry experience, research or postgraduate study.
  • Experience validating simulation models against experimental data.
  • Exposure to semiconductor devices, microelectronics, materials science, nanotechnology, physics or related engineering disciplines.
  • Experience working in collaborative multidisciplinary research or engineering environments.
  • Develop, maintain and improve simulation workflows for semiconductor devices and process technologies.
  • Perform electrostatic, transport and physics-based modelling of nanoscale devices.
  • Investigate design trade-offs, device variability and sensitivity to process changes.
  • Analyse simulation and experimental data to extract meaningful engineering insights.
  • Compare simulation predictions against measurement results and refine models to improve accuracy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and scientists to support technology development activities and product roadmaps.
  • Communicate technical findings, recommendations and modelling outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Work on cutting-edge semiconductor technologies and challenging technical problems.
  • Collaborate with highly skilled engineers, physicists and researchers.
  • Contribute to the development of advanced technologies with real-world impact.
  • Grow your expertise through hands-on modelling, simulation and technology development activities.
  • Be part of an innovative and supportive team environment that values curiosity, learning and technical excellence.

We do not require prior expertise in quantum computing, semiconductor fabrication, or specific simulation tools. If you have strong modelling skills, a solid technical foundation, and a willingness to learn, we would love to hear from you.

Diraq is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives and backgrounds are valued. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
