Manga Illustrator & Social Media Designer (Japanese/English Bilingual)
About this role
We are looking for a talented Japanese-speaking Manga Illustrator & Social Media Designer (Freelance, Remote) to support our Japan market initiatives by creating engaging manga-style visual content for social media.
The ideal candidate combines strong illustration skills with an understanding of Japanese culture, digital trends, and social media content formats. You will help transform marketing ideas into creative manga-inspired designs, character illustrations, and visual stories that resonate with Japanese audiences.
This role requires someone who can work independently, interpret creative briefs, and collaborate with an international marketing team in both Japanese and English.
Responsibilities
- Create manga-style illustrations, character designs, comics, and visual storytelling content for social media
- Develop creative concepts and translate marketing ideas into engaging visual assets
- Design static social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Threads, and other relevant channels
- Create content that reflects Japanese cultural nuances and audience preferences
- Provide creative recommendations for social media campaigns and monthly content planning
- Adapt global brand messaging into Japan-focused visual content
- Collaborate with international teams to develop and refine creative concepts
- Ensure all designs align with brand identity and communication objectives
Requirements
- Professional fluency in Japanese and English (written and verbal)
- Proven experience as a manga illustrator, digital illustrator, comic artist, or character designer
- Strong portfolio showcasing manga-style, anime-inspired, or character-based artwork
- Experience creating illustrations or visual content for digital platforms and social media
- Strong understanding of Japanese visual culture, storytelling styles, and online trends
- Ability to develop creative concepts from briefs and deliver final artwork independently
- Comfortable collaborating with global teams and incorporating feedback
