Job Description
We’re looking for a candidate with strong linguistic expertise, a professional demeanor, and excellent responsiveness. The Ideal canidate should have experience localizing content for the legal, marketing, and technology sectors, among others. Based in or having recent, extensive living experience in Madagascar to ensure up-to-date cultural relevance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Linguistic Leadership & Quality Assurance
Define Language Standards: Create, maintain, and update the Malagasy style guide, glossaries, and localization memory databases.
Quality Arbitrator: Act as the final authority on linguistic quality, resolving stylistic disputes and providing constructive feedback to translation vendors and freelance linguists.
Linguistic QA: Perform rigorous quality assurance checks, LQA testing, and proofreading on critical user-facing content (app interfaces, marketing campaigns, legal documents, etc.).
2. Translation & Adaptation
Localization: Translate, transcreate, and post-edit high-priority or highly visible content from [Source Language, e.g., English/French] into Malagasy.
Cultural Nuance: Ensure all localized materials are culturally appropriate, engaging, and resonant with local audiences in Madagascar while maintaining brand consistency.
3. Team Collaboration & Workflow Management
Vendor Support: Answer linguistic queries from external translators and provide them with context and onboarding support.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Project Managers, Product Teams, and Marketing Leads to align localization efforts with product launch timelines.
Qualifications
Requirements & Qualifications
Native Fluency: Native-level proficiency in written and spoken Malagasy, with an exceptional grasp of local idioms, cultural nuances, and contemporary language trends.
Professional Fluency: Full professional proficiency in English
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience: * Minimum of 5 years of professional translation/localization experience.
Technical Skills: Mastery of modern CAT tools (e.g., Trados, MemoQ, Phrase, Lokalise) and Translation Memory management.
Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to mentor other linguists effectively.
