JOB TITLE:    LIFE SKILLS WORKER | #2223

SERVICE AREA:    Vocational & Community Services

LOCATION:    Vancouver, BC

START DATE:    August 17, 2026

TERM/STATUS:    Permanent Full Time

SCHEDULE/HRS:    Flex Time  //  37.5 hours per week (flexible hours)

HOURLY WAGE:    $26.83 - $29.76 as per collective agreement (2024 rates, implementation of new collective agreement is in process, and new wage rates $28.46 to $31.57 will be implemented once funding is received)

THE ROLE:  

The Life Skills Worker (LSW) position provides life skills training to individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will teach life skills such as: achieving independence, obtaining identification, touring colleges, banking, applying for Persons with Disabilities Benefits, using transit and preparing for employment.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in areas directly related to Social Services, Human Services, or Education.
  • 2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in vocational & community settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully implement instructional and proactive training programs for clients.
  • Experience with principles of positive behavior management is preferred.
  • Experience with individuals who deal with concurrent disorders.
  • Working knowledge or experience designing and creating curriculum for people with disabilities.

Standard requirements of the Life Skills Worker include:

  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Medical Clearance
  • Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
  • Class 5 Driver's License
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Valid First Aid/CPR
  • Willing to commute throughout Vancouver and Richmond
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
  • Proficient in Office 365
  • Eligible to work in Canada

Training is provided for: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
