Janitorial Training Specialist

Downtown Buffalo, NY | Full Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

 $20.00–$24.00 per hour

Love teaching and helping others succeed? Join The Arc Erie County New York as our Janitorial Training Specialist and help individuals with developmental disabilities prepare for entry level careers in the janitorial industry

 

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare students for entry level employment running three (3) 12-week training sessions per year
  • Creates volunteer opportunities that encompasses student’s talents in janitorial to better the community at large
  • Works one-on-one with individuals as needed, to complete various cleaning tasks and provide a positive work model
  • Develop internship sites, identify mentors, and forge employer partnerships during job search to lead to successful job placements

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1-year full-time experience in the janitorial industry

OR

  • Associates degree plus 3 years’ full-time experience in the janitorial industry

OR

  • High school diploma plus 5 years’ full – time experience in the janitorial industry

PLUS

  • Passion for teaching and mentoring others
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus
  • Have experience as an instructor of a janitorial program and have high degree of technical ability to relay information in a manner that provides a positive learning experience and instills a passion for the profession. Possess the administrative and technological skills adequate to build course materials and have the ability to demonstrate concern and sensitivity toward culinary trainees and their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Must be Multi-Media First Aid Certified or receive certification within ninety (90) days from the date of hire. 
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s license, approved driving record and reliable transportation to all parts of greater Erie County area.
