DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking Freelance Short Story Writers!
What is the project about?
The purpose of this project is to create high-quality story content to help test and improve Machine Translation technology. Submissions will not be published or distributed, and writers retain the right to use their work as they wish after submission.
Task description:
The project task is to complete 1 short story of approximately 6,000 words.
After being selected, the task begins with submitting a brief plot for approval. Once approved, writers can proceed to complete the story within the specified timeframe. If needed, revisions may be required based on feedback received.
The short story must be in one of the following genres, and the genre will be assigned based on your selected preference:
Kids
Thriller/Mystery
Sci-fi/Fantasy
Self-help
Romance
Memoir/Biography
When will the project start?
This project is estimated to start during the week of Aug 31, 2026.
How long does it take?
We estimate it will take approximately 16.75 hours over a 2-week period to complete this project.
(The actual schedule and total workload may vary depending on feedback and revision cycles).
Where is the project taking place?
This is a fully remote project. You can participate from the comfort of your home.
Who is eligible?
To participate you should meet the following qualifying criteria:
Residency in South Africa
Native-level fluency and excellent writing skills in Afrikaans (grammar, spelling)
Working proficiency in English (all communication and guidelines are in English)
Degree in Literature or Creative Writing and/or proven experience in writing or content creation
Strong preference for candidates with published books and/or high-quality writing samples in relevant genres
