About this role

Overview

The Line Locator is responsible for accurately locating and marking underground pipelines and utilities in response to Texas 811 locate requests. This position plays a critical role in preventing utility damage, protecting public safety, and ensuring compliance with state regulations while supporting daily pipeline operations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to Texas 811 locate requests within required timeframes.
  • Locate and accurately mark underground pipelines and utilities.
  • Read and interpret pipeline maps, drawings, and records.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of locate activities.
  • Complete work orders and documentation using Salesforce.
  • Communicate with contractors, landowners, and field personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and damage prevention regulations.
  • Report any damaged or exposed facilities immediately.
  • Support additional field maintenance activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience as a Line Locator is required.
  • Experience responding to 811 utility locate requests.
  • Ability to read maps and utility drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a field environment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Experience locating oil & gas pipelines.
  • Knowledge of underground utility locating equipment.
  • Experience using Salesforce or other maintenance management software.
  • Familiarity with pipeline operations and maintenance.
  • Must meet conditonal job offer requirements.
