JOB SUMMARY:
Join the Dallas Arboretum as a Seasonal Supervisor on Duty, Operations (SOD) and play a key role in creating a beautiful, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest. In this hands-on leadership position, you will guide and support the janitorial team while ensuring the Arboretum’s grounds, restrooms, and facilities remain clean, safe, and event-ready at all times.
This role blends team leadership, operational oversight, and active fieldwork, requiring a strong attention to detail, a proactive approach, and a commitment to excellence. You’ll coordinate daily workflows, respond to real-time needs across the property, and collaborate with cross-functional teams during events to maintain the Arboretum’s high standards.

WORK SCHEDULE
The Supervisor on Duty is classified as a Seasonal position, however, will work four 10-hour days a week including weekends and evenings. Specifically, assigned work shifts will be Thursday through Sunday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Supervise and oversee workflow of staff for efficient productivity and successful completion of duties. Delegate work assignments as appropriate. Assist with dispensing supplies.
· Perform routine janitorial maintenance as specified by Operations Management including cleaning/stocking restrooms, emptying trash cans, cleaning offices, monitoring property for trash on ground, etc.
· Identify, report, handle, and document any problems with facilities as needed (i.e. leaks, broken items, maintenance issues, etc.). Escalate issues in a timely manner, as appropriate.
· Safely operate and be responsible for minor maintenance of janitorial equipment used
· Meet janitorial project completion schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
· Assist with special projects as required.
· Meet and check-in with the evening janitorial team daily and confirm their area assignments.
· Partner and maintain communication with Public Events, Guest Experience, and Security teams throughout events to ensure that the guest experience is optimal.
· Support the Security department with handling reported injuries, incidents, and emergencies.
· Perform other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School education or equivalent
· 2-5 years transferable operations experience, or related experience; 1-year supervisory experience preferred.
· At least 18 years of age
· Basic computer skills
· Basic English understanding and communication skills
· Proficient in workplace safety measures.
· Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including weekends and evenings.
· Ability to lift 30 lbs and to physically and repeatedly walk the property for janitorial/equipment oversight and support in all weather conditions.
· Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation
· Ability to pass all pre-employment requirements including background check, drug screening, and physical examinations
KEY COMPETENCIES:

· Basic communication in English, required. Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
