Dalcour Maclaren are recruiting a senior archaeology and built heritage consultant to join our expanding team in Stirling, Scotland.

As a Senior Archaeology and Built Heritage consultant you will:

  • Work collaboratively within the Archaeology and Built Heritage Team and the wider Environment & Planning Team by providing advice and support to colleagues

  • Prepare Archaeological DBAs and/or Built Heritage Statements and EIA chapters to a high standard

  • Design and develop programmes for a variety of fieldwork projects across a wide range of business sectors through consultation and the production of WSI and Mitigation Strategies

  • Source and commission archaeological fieldwork, geophysical and other archaeological and heritage surveys

  • Oversee site works as a Clerk of Works

  • Co-ordinate consultations with curators, stakeholders, clients and contractors;

  • Report on small scale field work

  • Supervise and mentor junior member of the team

  • Prepare fee proposals

  • Manage project budgets and deadlines effectively

The successful candidate will have:

  • An understanding of the drivers of UK commercial archaeology, specifically the primary legislation, policies and guidance pertaining to the historic environment,

  • Demonstrable practical experience in commercial archaeology, consultancy, built heritage or curatorial work (as a guide - c5 years of experience),

  • Full clean UK Driving licence

  • Membership of CIfA, at Associate or Member level (or IHBC) or be willing to join

  • Good organisational & communication skills

  • Excellent team working skills but able to act on their own initiative

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and a GIS package

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

Particular interest will be given to those individuals who seek to expand their experience of, or interest in Historic Building Recording, Geoarchaeology or to develop their role as an archaeological clerk of works on larger scale projects.
