Responsibilities

The primary goal is satisfying customer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery, in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity. Specifically, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing and negotiation of materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. These activities include but are not limited to: acting as the liaison at all levels between corporate, estimating, engineering, jobsites, remote offices, and services/spare parts and coordinating activities with manufacturing, engineering, sales and accounting.

 

Other responsibilities

• Approves the choice of vendors and authorizes purchase orders based on business needs
• Research, identify and evaluate potential vendors and facilitate vendor selection
• Estimates fabricated mechanical and electrical components for entire organization
• Follow internal control procurement policies and procedures
• Develop specific annual purchasing objectives for assigned areas including cost reduction and quality improvement
• Prepares detailed cost tables to justify bidding, outsourcing and budgetary goals, and documentation to support budgetary and estimating requirements
• Perform other duties as directed

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer literacy is a requirement. (Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word)
• Purchasing type MRP system (SAP) knowledge preferred

 

Education and Experience

• Minimum 1 year purchasing, sourcing, or planning experience.
• Motivated individual capable of learning and working as a team to procure parts, components, and services.
• Must be willing to service internal customers.
• Ambitious, eager and hard working.
