About this role

ROLE OVERVIEW

We're looking for a hands-on Freelance Production Manager to lead the setup focusing on AV, delivery and breakdown of our events - someone who thrives on logistics, stays calm under pressure, and takes pride in a job done properly.

This is a practical, on-the-ground role, leading the technical production of our events. You'll take full ownership of collecting production equipment from our Reading storage facility through to load-in, setup, show, and pack-down at venues across the UK - acting as our on-site technical representative from arrival to departure.

What you'll be doing

  • Prep & logistics: Collecting, preparing and checking equipment against event manifests, planning loading schedules, and coordinating vehicle loading
  • Transport: Driving equipment to venues (primarily Friday & Saturday events), ensuring safe handling of lighting, décor and staging
  • On-site setup: Leading installation of staging, décor, ambient lighting, power distribution and basic AV to Lumos brand standards - able to use our technical desk (Behringer XR18). Typical venues include churches and outdoor event locations.
  • Technical troubleshooting: Troubleshooting any technical issues on the spot, being the one to solve
  • Health & safety: Ensuring safe manual handling, cable management and equipment care throughout
  • Team working: Keeping communication flowing between crew, musicians and our operations team
  • Venue & supplier liaison: Acting as the face of Lumos on-site, working professionally with venue managers and staff
  • Pack-down: Leading efficient breakdown, accounting for all equipment, and feeding back to the operations team post-event

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Practical experience in technical event production (audio and visual elements are the focus) or a similar hands-on production role
  • Detail orientated and able to adapt AV set-ups to different event locations
  • Confident coordinating with small teams on-site and ability to troubleshoot on the spot, with a calm, solutions-focused approach
  • Comfortable with physical work - lifting, loading, and being on your feet throughout a shift
  • A full driving licence (own vehicle or van a plus)
  • Flexibility to work primarily Friday and Saturday afternoons/evenings, with travel across the UK
  • Holds own public liability insurance
  • Health & Safety training a bonus
  • First Aid training a bonus

THE DETAILS

  • Pay: £25.00 per hour
  • Mileage: Reimbursed when using your own vehicle to transport equipment
  • Basis: Freelance/contractor
  • Shift pattern: Primarily Friday & Saturday afternoons and evenings, plus regular UK travel
  • Base: Shifts start and end at our Reading storage facility
