Job Summary

The Materials Planning Analyst is responsible for planning and managing material availability to support production schedules and customer demand while optimizing inventory levels. This role ensures timely procurement and replenishment of materials, collaborates with suppliers and cross-functional teams, and supports efficient supply chain operations through effective planning, inventory management, and continuous process improvement. The position contributes to achieving customer delivery commitments while maintaining operational excellence and supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage material requirements to support production schedules and customer demand.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders and work orders to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
  • Monitor inventory levels and optimize material flow while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, sourcing teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve material shortages and supply constraints.
  • Participate in supplier allocation discussions and support recovery plans for material availability.
  • Expedite purchase or production orders to meet changing business requirements.
  • Manage part change requests, engineering changes, and product ramp-up/ramp-down activities.
  • Perform quality checks on material planning master data, including lead times, order quantities, and planning parameters.
  • Support Plan for Every Part (PFEP) initiatives to improve material planning and inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Planning teams to reposition inventory across locations based on demand.
  • Monitor critical supplier schedules, order boards, and overdue orders to ensure timely execution.
  • Provide timely updates on inventory availability, supply risks, and recovery plans.
  • Support supplier performance improvement initiatives and supply chain process enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate planning records and communicate action plans affecting material availability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, material flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Comply with Cummins Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), quality, and operational standards.
