Mechanical Maintenance Technician III
About this role
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Maintenance Technician II to join our team specializing in Manufacturing, in our Cummins Drivetrain and Breaking Systems Business Unit site, in Plainfield, IN.
Mechanical Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, assembles, installs, tests and maintains mechanical systems using all necessary tools to keep equipment available and capable. Learns and understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment. May work independently and instruct or coach others.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Maximize equipment uptime and reliability by troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and maintaining mechanical systems to keep production running safely and efficiently.
- Promote a strong safety culture by following HSE standards, identifying and reporting hazards, using proper PPE, and helping create an injury-free workplace.
- Deliver high-quality maintenance work by applying strong craftsmanship, following technical documentation, and performing work according to specifications and quality standards.
- Reduce downtime and maintenance costs by supporting failure analysis, identifying root causes of equipment issues, and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Drive proactive equipment performance by performing and documenting preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities that prevent future failures
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying manufacturing constraints, recommending process improvements, and contributing to TPM, safety, quality, and productivity initiatives.
- Develop team capability by coaching less experienced team members, sharing technical knowledge, and serving as a trusted resource for maintenance best practices.
- Enhance operational excellence by coordinating maintenance around production needs, maintaining organized work areas, communicating effectively across teams, and helping the plant consistently achieve production goals.
