Senior Project Engineer
About this role
- Providing exemplary HSE leadership.
- Implementing best practice asset management in the asset portfolio, working closely with functional teams across the business to optimise HSE, commercial and technical performance.
- Managing relationships with major contractors to ensure strong technical and commercial performance against contractual obligations.
- Preparing, reviewing and managing O&M plans and asset management strategies to optimise asset performance, lifecycle value and long-term P&L.
- Monitoring and reporting asset performance and implementing strategies for improvement of performance, mitigation of risks and creation of value.
- Developing and managing all contracts and agreements while ensuring compliance with licences and consents.
- Preparing and agreeing operational plans and budgets, and controlling and analysing performance against approved budgets.
- Managing and ensuring both commercial and technical compliance with O&M contracts, land leases and other project level contracts.
- Project managing and delivering key value protection and optimisation initiatives, including spares strategies, procurement, and the negotiation and management of material project contracts and work packages.
- Managing the production of regular portfolio and project level reports highlighting HSE and commercial performance, risks and technical issues.
- Ensuring project and portfolio level risks and issues are managed, mitigated and reported.
- Leading insurance claims management and recovery processes where required.
- Ensuring operational invoices are issued and paid in a timely manner.
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing input to business development, acquisition and asset construction activities in the UK, while proactively sharing knowledge and experience across the wider business.
- Taking directorships for SPV companies as required.
- An engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- Extensive experience of asset management and operations in the renewable energy industry, with onshore wind experience of particular relevance to the role, with solar and/or BESS experience being advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external counterparties across all levels and across diverse cultures.
- Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrable track record and the ability to translate technical findings into commercial implications.
- Proven experience of contract management and HSE leadership.
- Proactive and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude and a drive for high standards.
- Ability to review and reassess priorities in response to challenging situations and deadlines.
- Solid planning and organising skills to include effective prioritisation and resource management.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of project finance documents (e.g. asset reporting requirements, covenants, ratio tests) and financial reporting.
- Fluent in English, with a second language such as Spanish being an advantage.
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution or similar is attractive.
