About this role

As Environment & Permitting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the permitting process and obtaining all necessary approvals and permits for renewable energy projects throughout Australia. You will need to ensure compliance with legal and environmental requirements, whilst coordinating with stakeholders, government agencies and local communities. 

When necessary, you may also be expected to engage in public consultations and community engagement activities.  The role also requires supporting the construction and operational asset management teams with projects moving through those project phases.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or a Master's degree or certification in environmental science, engineering, renewable energy or any other related field.
  • Previous experience of managing and obtaining permits for renewables projects with a focus on wind energy, from preparation to approval.
  • The ability to analyse complex regulatory documents, environmental studies etc., to ensure efficient and effective permitting processes.
  • Commitment to sustainable development and engaging in best practices throughout the wind energy project lifecycle.
  • Good attention to detail in ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentations and adhering to regulatory  requirements. 
  • Commitment to staying updated on changing trends within the renewables field and making changes to wind energy permitting and adapting strategies wherever necessary.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, including all required documentation and reports for a project approval.
  • Identify possible permitting risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including coming up with alternative approaches and addressing environmental concerns.
  • Maintain and organise all records and documentation of permitting activities relating to approvals, correspondence and environmental studies.
  • Uphold and foster positive relationships with local communities and stakeholders by addressing their concerns and ensuring transparency of all operations.
  • Stay up to date with any changes in regulations, policies and industry trends and make changes to practices    and operations where necessary. 
  • Oversee different assessments and studies on wildlife, noise, visual impacts and other environmental factors. 
  • Support construction and asset management teams with ongoing environmental and condition of approval compliance subject matter expertise
