The Sponsored Programs Administrator serves as the primary coordinator for pre-award and non-financial post-award activities, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, sponsor guidelines, and university policies. This role provides expert guidance to faculty, staff, and students; supports grant proposal and award processes; and serves as a key resource for research administration, funding opportunities, and compliance.

The position also plays a key role in maintaining and troubleshooting the InfoEd Electronic Research Administration System, developing and delivering training, and documenting departmental procedures and processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise faculty and staff on sponsor regulations, guidelines, policy changes, and proposal requirements.
  • Conduct institutional compliance reviews of grant proposals prior to submission.
  • Train and support users of InfoEd and the SPIN funding opportunity database; troubleshoot system issues and support timely submissions.
  • Identify, conduct targeted searches for, and disseminate funding opportunities.
  • Review awards, terms, and conditions; coordinate award information with post-award teams and assist with subawards and compliance monitoring.
  • Participate in grant kickoff meetings to clarify requirements, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate internal grant review programs.
  • Compile and analyze sponsored research data for audits, surveys, accreditation, and institutional reporting.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Six+ years of research administration or closely related experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, exercise independent judgment, and communicate clear guidance.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to train and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, deans, and external sponsors.
  • Flexibility to work beyond normal business hours as departmental needs require.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance and experience interpreting federal and non-federal sponsor regulations.
  • Knowledge of research administration and regulatory compliance.
  • Certified Research Administrator certification preferred.
