JOB SUMMARY

The Service Manager is directly responsible for the management and/or supervision of the Service Department as it relates to the goals of your perspective branch and Branch Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with recruitment and HR to maintain staff levels that appropriately support customer demand

Working directly with personnel to ensure proper job function performance

Maintaining continuous personnel improvement processes that include cross training and management support

Working with other department managers to encourage cross departmental workflow

Maintaining and managing inventory levels that both enhance customer service and maintain corporate goals

Assisting with policy and procedure enhancements to encourage an environment that promotes ease of business

Hold weekly departmental meetings to address comments, questions and/or concerns as it relates to productivity of the department

Regularly schedule time to spend in the market managing, maintaining and increasing customer relationships

Regularly review the Monthly Operating Statement (M.O.S.) to measure:

Departmental financial state (forecast vs. current)

Areas for improvement

Staffing levels

Evaluating the market to determine appropriate means for gaining market share

Other duties as assigned by Branch Manager

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS

Complete and maintain all factory certifications within 180 days of original date of hire.

High school diploma or equivalent required

Bachelor’s degree and/or technical education in Automotive, Diesel or related field preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

At least 2 years of experience in a heavy-duty diesel shop

Strong mechanical knowledge and ability

Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience

WORK CONDITIONS

Physical Demands/Work Environment

This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
