Job Duties and Accountabilities


Research

 

  • To carry out a literature review on solid waste management (SWM) and air pollution, and summarise the findings as reports 

  • To keep a tab on the latest research developments and policy developments in the state, India and worldwide, pertinent to SWM 

  • To provide research content for the organisation's web pages, blogs, issue briefs, etc

  • To participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and training programmes for a comprehensive understanding of the SWM and air quality management in India and globally


Programme assistance


  • Assist with project implementation, including help with preparing presentations, fact sheets and other communication materials

  • Support efforts to use new media platforms for the wide dissemination of CEEW's work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community.

  • Participate in weekly team meetings and assist with preparing minutes

  • Support senior team members for important meetings and sessions, prepare notes, and conduct follow-ups, as required



Requirements

Education and experience

  • Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's/Master's degree in economics, urban planning, statistics, development management, waste management, public policy or environmental science

  • 0-1 years of relevant research experience

  • A fair understanding of environmental policy and governance in India and worldwide

  • Desire to research on waste management


Main skills 


  • Must have strong research skills – capability to carry out systematic literature review and familiarity with research methods

  • Strong data analytical skills, including quantitative research skills 

  • Good written and oral communication skills; Good report writing skills

  • Desirable: Create high-impact infographics and presentations that translate complex data into visually compelling narratives

  • Desirable: Experience in working with QGIS, R, Python or geospatial and other big datasets

  • Desirable: Have understanding of waste management and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)

  • Willingness to learn new (research and project management) skills

  • Ability to adapt to the new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment

  • Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output

  • Ability to effectively work in a team while being able to drive research with minimum assistance, when time demands it independently.

  • Ability to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture
