Process Specialist- Element 13
About this role
Job Summary:
The Process Specialist will provide technical support for operations on shift. The candidate will enforce procedures, enhance continuous improvement efforts, and enact necessary changes.
Responsibilities:
· Perform on shift procedural audits of both personnel and equipment
· Identify SOP gaps and work with operations management to strengthen procedures
· Act as an on-shift leader to support plant-wide safety initiatives
· Coach and support casting personnel w/re SOP’s
· Utilize process audit results to focus operator training in specific areas needing improvement
· Expedite disposition of non-conforming material, including all required systems movements
· Disposition key equipment as it is removed from active service
· Perform quality critical testing, including both PreFil and LiMCA
· Troubleshoot electro-magnetic casting (EMC) and direct chill (DC) casting issues
· Utilize extensive process data systems to monitor and improve cast shop processes
· Track and distribute long term SPC trends for the operation
· Collect quality critical samples to be analyzed within the Constellium laboratory network
· Lead Cross functional teams to investigate and resolve complex castability and process issues
· Perform daily process data reviews with a goal of reducing process variability.
Qualifications:
· 4-year technical related degree from an accredited University required
· Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
· Engineering Degree with 3-5 years' experience in plant technical role or technical degree with 7 years’ experience preferably in a heavy industry.
· Certification as an ASQ-CQE, CQA, or six-sigma preferred.
· Must be able to write technical reports.
· Must be able to transfer technical information into layman’s terms for complete communication.
· Ability to work with a broad cross section of people from top managers, hourly work force and internal and external customers.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and establish appropriate priorities.
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Strong problem solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills.
· Aptitude for detailed work requiring a high degree of accuracy.
· Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important.
· Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment.
· Proven ability to coach/develop others while demonstrating the value for accountability and leading by example.
· Ability to work in extreme temperatures in plant environment often requiring extensive walking or moving about the plant or standing for long periods of time.

With its widest strip mill in the USA and a world-class recycling center, the site represents one of the largest sites within Constellium and is a world-class can recycling center, with the capacity to recycle nearly 20 billion cans per year. Muscle Shoals’ main product is aluminum can sheet for the packaging industry, particularly for beverage containers. It manufactures sheet used in all three components of an aluminum can, namely body stock, coated end stock and tab stock. Additionally, Muscle Shoals supplies Auto Body Sheet substrate to Constellium’s Bowling Green, Kentucky, site.
