What You'll Do:

 

The Medical Director performs administrative functions and serves as a key leader for the Phoenix facility.  Directs care through identification and implementation of treatment approaches and guidelines for the facility. Leads, coordinates, and provides medical/clinical services to specified individuals within the facility.  

  • Performs medical review of all clinical practices, including safety protocols.
  • Functions as representative/clinical leader for Phoenix regarding clinical care and practices for regulatory agencies, facility and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitates direct clinical care for at least 50% of the work week. Acts as a point of clinical contact and supervisory role in-person or by telecommunication at all hours of the day/week (PTO excluded). Serves as an Administrator on Call for the Leadership Team.  
  • Provides clinical guidance to clinical services staff for escalated clinical cases. Serves as a point of contact at all hours of the day/week. 
  • Supports, supervises and innovates within our leadership structure, ensuring midlevel medical practitioners are adequately prepared to provide high quality care under appropriate physician supervision.
  • Ensures professional conduct and manages conflict resolution of Clinical Services staff.  Reviews, participates in, and engages in corrective actions as indicated.  
  • Responsible for hiring and termination of Medical Services staff.
  • Responsible for overseeing onboarding and training process for new Medical Services staff. 
  • Participates in the facility’s Leadership Team, specifically as the Medical counterpart to the Operations leader(s), working in a dyad structure, to oversee the facility’s clinical operations and develop and implement procedures that support the strategic mission of the company. 
  • May serve as the attending psychiatrist to specified patients 
  • Completes initial psychiatric assessments, crisis interventions, family interventions, focused crisis diagnostic assessments, assessments of capacity for consent to treatment, risk assessments, patient education, progress towards treatment goals, and discharge planning including medical, psychological, social, behavioral and developmental aspects of the patient's care, treatment, and services.  
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary staff members to ensure that each treatment modality is appropriate for the patient in addition to working with outside psychiatric providers in outpatient and inpatient services. 
  • Serves as subject matter expert in local involuntary treatment process and statutes.  Works with the legal community to review involuntary petitions, assess involuntary patients, and coordinate with the legal system to follow established guidelines for Court Ordered Evaluation and Treatment.
  • Serves on the Medical Executive Committee as well as other committees when clinical expertise is required.
  • Works directly with the Quality and Compliance teams with regards to all process improvement projects and compliance surveys and responsibilities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine
  • Completion of ACGME accredited psychiatric residency training programs, in the delivery of mental health treatment of children, adolescents, and/or adults
  • 3 years of post-residency psychiatric care experience  
  • Licensed by the State of Arizona  
  • Board Eligibility in Adult Psychiatry 
  • Unrestricted DEA license  
  • The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
  • Complete all credentialing requirements within the required time period, including but not limited to obtaining a National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials as required for the role

It would be great if you had:

  • Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry 
  • Prior administrative experience 
  • Prior post-residency clinical work with the SMI population 
  • Prior post-residency clinical work involving involuntary treatment 
  • Prior post-residency clinical work in emergency psychiatry
