About this role

Overview

The EMR Clinical Content Support Specialist is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing clinical content within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and supporting applications. This role bridges clinical workflows and technical systems to ensure documentation tools, templates, forms, and clinical rules are accurate, compliant, user-friendly, and aligned with best practices. The specialist works closely with clinicians, Confluent Health leadership, IT, and vendors to continuously improve the quality and usability of clinical content.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support EMR clinical content, including templates, forms, order sets, clinical workflows, smart text, and decision-support tools. 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for industry standard EMR content configuration. 

  • Collaborate with clinicians and operational leaders to gather requirements and translate clinical needs into EMR content solutions. 

  • Build, test, and deploy new or updated clinical content following change management and governance processes. 

  • Ensure clinical content aligns with regulatory, compliance, and quality standards (e.g., CMS, HIPAA, payer documentation requirements). 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve clinical content issues reported by end users; provide timely support and root-cause analysis. 

  • Partner with IT, informatics, and vendors on EMR upgrades, enhancements, and system optimizations. 

  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and validation of clinical content changes. 

  • Develop and maintain EMR best practices in alignment with Confluent Health clinical guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures. 

  • Support training efforts by providing guidance, reference materials, and subject matter expertise. 

  • Monitor feedback and usage trends to identify opportunities for workflow improvement and content optimization. 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical, health informatics, healthcare administration, or related field, or equivalent experience. 

  • 2+ years of experience working with EMR/EHR systems in a clinical, informatics, or application support role. 

  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation workflows and terminology. 

  • Experience building or supporting EMR templates, forms, or clinical documentation tools. 

  • Ability to translate clinical requirements into structured EMR content. 

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both clinical and technical stakeholders. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Clinical background (e.g., therapy (PT,OT,PTA), nursing, medical assisting) or formal clinical informatics experience. 

  • Experience with outpatient or specialty EMRs. 

  • Clinicient 

  • WebPT 

  • Raintree 

  • Familiarity with clinical quality measures, compliance standards, and documentation audits. 

  • Experience with change management, release management, or governance processes. 

  • EMR or health informatics certifications.
