Job Summary:

Alpha House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based services that support individuals and families on their journey toward recovery, stability, and self-sufficiency. Through residential and community-based programs, Alpha House empowers those facing substance use and other life challenges by fostering hope, healing, and lasting positive change.

We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Facilities Assistant to help maintain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming environments across Alpha House facilities. In this role, you will support day-to-day facility operations through routine maintenance, basic repairs, preventative maintenance, facility inspections, and general upkeep.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining safe and well-organized spaces, and wants to use their skills to support a mission-driven organization and the individuals it serves. If you are a resourceful self-starter who enjoys solving problems, working with your hands, and contributing to a collaborative team, we encourage you to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general facility upkeep.
  • Conduct routine facility and grounds inspections and assist with preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized common areas, storage spaces, equipment, and exterior grounds.
  • Assist with facility projects, vendor and contractor coordination, and moving furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • Pick up, sort, and deliver food donations while maintaining sanitary food storage areas and following food safety protocols.
  • Support facility setup, seasonal maintenance, and other operational needs as assigned.
  • Follow safety procedures and promptly communicate maintenance, repair, or safety concerns to the Facilities Director.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in facilities, building maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair practices and ability to safely use common tools and equipment.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, and contractors.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between local sites required.
