Registered Behavior Technician
About this role
- Provide onsite services to participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities through evidence based and data driven methodologies that include trauma informed care and positive behavior supports
- Model and implement behavioral support strategies specified in the Behavior Plan that assist the participant with acquiring, retaining, improving, and generalizing the behavioral, self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to function successfully in the home and the community
- Provide timely and structured written feedback to the clinicians on the provision and effectiveness of the Behavior Plan and strategies
- Participate in onsite meetings or instructional sessions with the participant’s support network regarding the recommendations, strategies, and next steps identified in the Behavior Plan
- Collect data on progress and work collaboratively to ensure effective behavior reduction, skill acquisition, and skill generalization
- Prepare progress reports for the participant’s team as needed
- Provide a safe and supportive environment
- Employees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successfully complete a 40-hour behavioral technician training
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Knowledge of Positive Behavior Supports
- Ability to implement Behavior Plans independently and confidently
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with participants receiving supports
- Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
- Ability to collect, interpret, and graph data
- Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
