About this role

We are looking for a Founding Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join CommodityAI as a high-ownership builder who thrives in ambiguity and can help define the technical architecture powering AI-driven workflows for the commodities industry. You'll be joining a small, elite team backed by Y Combinator and Rebel Fund, working alongside former commodity traders and a staff-level engineer from Flexport to build agentic AI systems at the foundation of global trade.

What will you be doing?

Designing and scaling the core system architecture for multi-agent workflows

Expanding the platform from 2 agentic flows to 5–6, with a major say in long-term architecture decisions

Making critical technical trade-offs between shipping fast and building for scale

Translating business context into engineering outcomes alongside the founding team

Contributing across the full stack as needed — front end, back end, and AI/LLM layers

Key Requirements

6+ years of software engineering experience with senior-to-staff level ownership

Prior founding engineer, YC founder, or early-stage startup experience (seed to Series A)

Experience building production LLM/agentic applications (strong nice-to-have, expected at this level)

Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, make decisions in ambiguity, and own outcomes end-to-end

Willingness to work across the stack and be a team player — no rigid specialization
