Columbia College Chicago is a private urban institution of approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative and media arts and business is currently searching for a(an) NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR.
Reporting to the IT Manager of Network and Telecommunications, the Network Administrator will provide implementation, administration, and technical documentation of all enterprise network systems and oversee daily operations of systems support functions. This position is part of the technical and professional service group and is critical for supporting the college’s network operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBLIITIES
Configure, monitor, and proactively maintain and support key aspects of the college’s network infrastructure and technology, including related systems, hardware, software, services, cabling, configurations, documentation, and policies. Core aspects of the network infrastructure include but are not limited to the following:
Juniper Routing and Switching equipment as well as Aruba Wireless infrastructure.
Security environment, including content filtering, anti-virus, anti-malware, and monitoring.
Backup of configurations.
Network monitoring and alerting.
Proactively monitors network environment and responds to system, hardware and software failures and outages in a timely manner, responding to critical issues as they occur during as well as outside of regular business hours.
Collaborate with other Information Technology team members in providing technology support and assistance to staff members, as needed. Acts as a Tier 2/Level 2 responder to Help Desk requests for assistance and related support needs, although may take on a Tier 1 role when short staffed.
Consistently maintain all network-related technical documentation, including diagrams, schematics, templates and configuration documents, and all other related materials.
Promote Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) by proactively identifying and helping to identify and implement improvements and best practices.
Promote a culture of innovation by identifying and developing ideas and innovative methods for addressing needs and improving operations through data and technology.
Perform all other assigned duties as required.
Copper/fiber testing, labeling, termination, repair.
Provide 24/7 on-call rotation support for the college’s enterprise network, responding to and resolving system downtimes and performance issues.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities assigned or required.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other technical field or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible, work-related experience designing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Network Infrastructure in a Juniper environment.
Experience with business continuity and disaster/recovery planning with respect to Infrastructure systems.
VMWare and VDI knowledge a plus.
Experience in higher education or enterprise environments.
Routing & Switching Juniper EX/QFX, VLANs, STP, port mapping.
Team collaboration and being a strong team player.

Hosted VOIP experience a plus,
Fiber – single and multimode configurations.

Position Minimum Annual Salary: $75,000
Position Maximum Annual Salary: $80,000
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including department budget.
